Session Work

ccstudioGrowing up in suburban-Detroit, I found my passion for music at the age of eight. Living in a city rich with music history, I was quickly influenced by the sounds of Motown, R&B, and Gospel. Coupled with a love of soulful music and driving pop, an early foundation of formal training and music theory developed my technique, form, and style as a musician. At age 20, I had the opportunity to study under the late Bess Bonnier, one of Detroit’s most formidable jazz pianists. Ten years later, in 2012, I was invited to play Motown and R&B music at a private dinner for President Barack Obama. In 2014, I played for a sold-out crowd of over 22,000 people at a Detroit Red Wings playoff game. Additionally, I have had the privilege of playing on songs that have been licensed for film, television, and major motion picture releases. Today, my approach to sound design and style is heavily influenced by artists such as Coldplay,Sigur RósOne RepublicKeaneMaroon 5The KillersBruno MarsMusiq Soulchild, andFred Hammond. Their influence is evident in the vast array of styles represented in my work, both live and in-studio.

I am available for session work and e-session work (for out-of-town clients), including composing, arranging, and programming. If you are interested in working with me privately, please e-mail me at For a preview of my work, click here.

What People are Saying:

“Through many years on the road, I’ve met many people from all over the country that get to use their musical talents for the church. I was blessed to get to know Chris early on in my journey. We’d cross paths every once in a while and every time we had the opportunity to talk and catch up I couldn’t help but be inspired by his zeal, personal integrity, and his passion for the church and willingness to serve through music. But it’s not just his musical talents that shine in the work he does, it’s his love of Christ and his desire to see Him glorified. Chris’ passion for music is inspiring to me. He gives his all to every project and loves to pour into the opportunities God places before him.” – Chris Rohman, guitarist/founding member, Sanctus Real (Nashville, TN)

Chris can serve any moment and environment as well as anyone I’ve seen. He possesses the rare and ideal combination of raw talent, hard work, and being a consummate professional. His aptitude is through the roof, he reads and understands moments effectively, knows how to prepare and communicate, and most importantly is a servant leader. People could either attend a clinic and listen to him speak, or just follow him around for a week and take notes because he’s a perfect example of what any music director, church leader, or producer prays for when looking for someone to be a part of their team.” – Bryon Rossi, producer, Kensington Church (Troy, MI)
